Arise is a tech-enabled, virtual care company focused on transforming eating disorder care. We offer personalized, team-based treatment that integrates peer support, clinical care, and digital tools to individuals and families navigating disordered eating. Since our founding in 2022, we have launched in four states (TX, NC, NY, FL), demonstrated a 50% ED symptom improvement, and are excited to now launch our first specialty contracts with two major Medicaid plans to reach families who have not had access to eating disorder support.
Product Specs
Arise provides comprehensive clinical care in the form of virtual visits with a therapist, registered dietitian, psychiatric and medical provider. In addition, Arise combines clinical care with community care through our peer support program that pairs individuals with peer mentors who have lived experience with eating disorder recovery.Arise is now currently preparing to launch our digital program through the Arise App, making recovery resources even more accessible for our members. The app moves beyond standard meal & mood trackers and is a healing hub where members can connect with peer support through messaging, 1:1 video sessions, or even through asynchronous activities & resources.
Joan Zhang
Joan is the co-founder and CEO of Arise, whose vision is to create a world where everyone, everywhere has the freedom to heal from eating disorders and disordered eating. Joan brings her own lived experience with eating disorders and mental health conditions alongside a deep empathy for the diversity of the mental health journeys of so many others to drive her work as a product leader in the mental health tech space. Previously, Joan was a Sr. Product Manager at Headspace Health where she led initiatives that empowered members to get into clinical care faster than ever before and led personalization initiatives with the AI/ML teams. Prior to Headspace, Joan led product at Click Therapeutics where she launched their first clinical trial product, a novel digital treatment for major depressive disorder that was approved by the FDA and now available in the US and Great Britain. Joan started her career in management consulting at Deloitte where she led projects to implement robotics process automation at a top global pharmaceutical company and EHR systems for a state-wide development disability service provider. Joan is passionate about innovating care models to create increasingly personalized treatment that centers culture, lived experience, and each individual's unique life circumstance.
